What Are the Side Effects of X-Rays?

X-rays are a common diagnostic tool in modern medicine. People have them for broken bones, for dental examinations, and other medical reasons. Yet before most x-rays, the doctor or dentist hands the patient a lead vest, or covers other parts in lead. This leads to the question, just how safe are x-rays?

X-rays rely on radiation, but they are not the only piece of modern technology to do so. Televisions and radio also use a form of radiation to relay their signals. There is also ambient radiation from the sun and outer space to which every living thing on the planet is exposed every day. X-rays have also been around and in use longer than other modern devices such as cell phones and computers which also have been found to emit radiation. Unlike some devices which scatter radiation everywhere, x-ray machines are shielded to focus the radiation at a specific target.

As with any source of radiation, the key component with regards to health risks is exposure. Some forms of radiation can cause irreparable harm in a short amount of time. X-rays that are used for medical purposes are used briefly, but in this case the overall health risk is low. Prolonged exposure to an x-ray could be serious, but it would require a much longer time than the milliseconds of exposure which occurs in a hospital or dentist's office. Nor do x-rays linger in the body. This means there is also no cumulative effect, which can create long-term exposure in other radiation types.

How to Stay Safe Around X-Ray Equipment?

X-rays penetrate the body and allow doctors to see what's going on inside. They provide a picture of internal structures that help doctors make an accurate diagnosis. There are risks, because of the radiation involved, but the amount of radiation exposure from one chest X-ray is equivalent to the exposure you experience from natural surroundings in 10 days. In most cases, the benefits of an X-ray far outweigh the dangers.
      Instructions
1.Wear lead body aprons and shields. Both protect patients from radiation, though modern equipment filters out unnecessary X-rays and restricts the X-ray beam to the area of interest.
2.Leave the room. Anyone who is not covered in a lead apron and shield should leave the X-ray room before the image is taken. Even though the radiation is aimed at the person in the chair, it's still risky to be in the room at all.
3.Use with care. Radiologists and X-ray technicians (using mobile x ray machine and stationary x ray machine)are trained to use the minimum amount of radiation necessary to obtain the image they need. Radiation is released only when a switch is turned on quickly. Once it's turned off, no radiation remains in the room.
4.Inform doctor if you may be pregnant. Medical X-rays don't pose a tremendous risk to your baby, but there is a small chance of causing illness or other complication. It depends on how far along you are with the pregnancy.

Careers in Servicing & Maintenance of Medical Machines (2)

We have introduced the two kinds of careers in servicing & maintenance of medical machines. Except the two kinds, there are three careers left. Now, we will give you the details of the three careers.

   Surgical Instrument Repair Technician
A surgical instrument repair technician repairs and services precision surgical instruments for a hospital or clinic. Duties include polishing and sharpening medical instruments and repairing or replacing parts. A majority of a surgical instrument repair technician's time will be spent traveling to hospitals, but some hospitals create positions specifically for this type of service; that way a technician will always be on hand. To qualify for this position, an individual must be a high school graduate, be able to complete a training program for instrument repair and know how to use various tools, including hand tools, and a buffer.
Medical Equipment Preparer

Medical equipment preparers help prepare medical equipment for physicians in an emergency or operating room. With this position, an individual has to prepare, sterilize and install all health care equipment. A medical equipment preparer needs to have knowledge of the equipment to ensure it is functioning properly and to understand written and verbal instructions. A medical equipment preparer also has to maintain a log for all equipment being used. To meet the criteria for this position, a high school diploma and on-the-job training are required.

   Radiology Service Engineer
This position is similar to a biomedical equipment technician. The only difference is that a radiology service engineer only deals with radiology equipment and he must have an associate degree in electronics, engineering or biomedical technology. Duties for this position include giving support in radiology rooms and mammography facilities, which entails repairing and installation of mobile x ray machines, digital radiography equipment, c arms and digital imaging machines.

The five careers can make the operation of the medical equipment more conveniently and also ensure the safety of the field of the medical equipments or instruments.

Careers in Servicing & Maintenance of Medical Machines (1)

With the development of the industry, the field of the medical equipment is also developing quickly. Safety of medical equipment becomes more and more important. There are various ways to ensure medical machines and instruments are safely used and are operating in a proper manner. People are needed to keep the machines and instruments in top working order.

Today, many careers appeared to maintain the safety of medical equipments and instruments. Now, we will introduce two kinds of careers in servicing & maintenance of medical machines in the following.

Biomedical equipment technicians (BMETs) play an important part in hospital or health care facility. A technician installs, inspects, repairs, services and calibrates medical equipment. BMETs usually work on include X-ray machines, ultrasound machines and laboratory equipments. After installing certain equipment, BMETs will also train health care staff on how to use the equipment.

To pursue a career in medical equipment repairing, a person will have to receive an associate or bachelor's degree in biomedical equipment technology or biomedical engineering. While a majority of companies require an associate degree, some companies will offer an individual with just a high school diploma a position, but only if the person agrees to obtain on-the-job training and makes a commitment to obtaining higher education.

Field service technicians install systems in a healthcare facility, including medical software, electronic and mechanical tests, as well as perform yearly maintenance of systems in hospitals and clinics. Field service technicians also maintain records of medical equipment, train technical staff on numerous medical devices and techniques, and provide customer service for troubleshooting technical problems. A person interested in a career as a field service technician must possess a high school diploma, but an associate degree in biomedical technology is preferred. A field service technician must have mechanical and technical training and be computer literate.

Because of the two kinds of careers, doctors can operate the medical equipment or instrument safely and conveniently.

What Is Bone Mineral Density

A bone mineral density (BMD) test measures the density of minerals (such as calcium) in your bones using a special stationary or mobile X-ray machine or computed tomography (CT) scan. This information is used to estimate the strength of your bones.
We all lose some bone mass as we age. Bones naturally become thinner (called osteopenia) as you grow older because existing bone is broken down faster than new bone is made. As this occurs, our bones lose calcium and other minerals and become lighter, less dense, and more porous. This makes the bones weaker and increases the chance that they might break (fracture).
With further bone loss, osteopenia leads to osteoporosis . So the thicker your bones are, the longer it takes to get osteoporosis. Although osteoporosis can occur in men, it is most common in women older than age 65.
If your bone density is lower than normal, you can take steps to increase your bone strength and reduce your chances of having a fracture. Some ways to increase bone density and strength include combining calcium and vitamin D supplements with weight-bearing exercise (such as walking), weight training (such as lifting weights or using weight machines), and using medicines such as calcitonin , alendronate , risedronate, or ibandronate .

Blood Test:Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR)

What Is an Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate Test?
An erythrocyte sedimentation rate test (also called an ESR or sed rate test) measures the speed at which red blood cells fall to the bottom of an upright glass test tube. This measurement is important because when a person's blood has abnormal amounts of certain proteins in it, they cause red blood cells to clump together and sink more quickly.It can be tested by a hematology analyzer.

      Preparation
If your doctor asks you to get an ESR test, you won't need to do anything special beforehand to get ready. It can help to wear a T shirt or other short-sleeve top on the day of the test to make things faster and easier for the technician who will be drawing the blood.
      The Procedure
A health professional will usually draw the blood from a vein in your arm — most often on the inside of the elbow, but sometimes on the back of the hand. The technician cleans the skin surface with antiseptic and ties an elastic band (tourniquet) around the upper arm so the veins swell with blood and are easy to see.
Next, it's time for the needle. It should feel like a quick pinprick. Occasionally, it can be hard to find a vein so a nurse, doctor, or technician might need to try more than once. That's not the norm, though — most people's veins are easy to find.
It's best to try to relax and stay still during the procedure since tensing muscles can make it harder and more painful to draw blood. And if you don't want to watch the needle being inserted or see the blood collecting, you don't have to. Look the other way and maybe relax by focusing on saying the alphabet backwards, doing some breathing exercises, thinking of a place that makes you happy, or listening to music.
The technician will draw the blood so it collects in a vial or syringe. Collecting blood will only take a few minutes. Once the technician has enough blood, he or she removes the needle and covers the area with cotton or a bandage to stop the bleeding.
      Safety
A blood test is a safe procedure and there are no real risks. Some people may feel faint or lightheaded during a blood test. And while nobody really loves needles, a few teens have a strong fear of them. If that's you, talk to your doctor since there are things that can be done to make the procedure easier for you.
      Results
It usually only takes a few hours or a day or so for your doctor to get the results of an ESR test. If the test seems to show problems, your doctor may want to do other tests(by hematology analyzer) to find out what the cause is.

Why are lobsters being used in new X-ray technologies?

The latest advance in the war against hidden bombs, lurking cockroaches and illegal immigrants comes straight from the floor of the ocean. Lobsters possess one of the most unique vision systems in the animal world, and researchers are working on adapting that system to X-ray scanners that will make steel walls about as opaque as tissue paper.

X-rays are a form of electromagnetic energy. The spectrum of electromagnetic energy also includes radio waves and visible light. Some materials absorb X-rays, others reflect them and others let them pass through, refracting the beams so that they bend. Refracted X-rays exit the material at a different angle than the one at which they hit.

A typical X-ray system uses an X-ray generator, which produces a beam of X-rays, and a detection medium (an optic system). To make an image, X-rays are fired at an object. Some of the X-rays pass through the object and are refracted. Other X-rays are absorbed completely, and some are reflected. The detection medium "sees" the X-rays that pass through the object.

This system works well, but it's not ideal. First, the refracted X-rays are bending at different angles, so it's difficult for the optics to effectively collect and focus them. Second, since the refraction makes the system less efficient, the X-rays have to be pretty high-powered in order for the optics to gather enough energy to form an image. And high-power X-rays aren't the safest thing in the world.

The eyes of humans and other animals also rely on refraction. But not lobsters. The way a lobster perceives light is different, and it's a visual system that's almost entirely unique to crustaceans. So what makes lobster vision so special? Next, find out why the eye of a lobster is a lesson in visual efficiency.

What is C-arm?

C-arm is one of the driving technological forces behind the advancement of minimally invasive surgeries. The mobile fluoroscopic imaging system is precise and accurate device that allow for less patient discomfort in a variety of surgical and nonsurgical procedures. The minimal invasiveness with the use of C-arm has helped lead to the increase of more cost-effective outpatient care.C-arm provides patients with minimally invasive, pain-reduced procedures.

Initially used in general surgery or orthopedic applications, C -arm is now described by both manufacturers and users as highly versatile.

In fact, recently the usage of c-arm has expanded to include minimally invasive, spinal, general, and orthopedic surgeries; pain management; and cardiac, urology, vascular, and neurovascular applications.

The c arm allows for lower x-ray doses to be used on patients by magnifying the intensity produced in the output image, enabling the viewer to easily see the structure of the object being imaged.

Proton Beam Therapy vs. X- ray Beams(2)

Proton beams don't emit energy in a constant stream. They typically release it in increasing amounts as they start to slow down, because the slower they move the more atoms they have time to hit. And when they stop moving, they release most of their energy in one giant burst of radiation. After that burst, there's very little energy left, and they just stop. There's no "exit dose" of radiation like there is in X-ray therapy(Through a mobile x ray machine or a c arm x ray machine).
By altering the proton beam's energy level, which determines its velocity, doctors can send it to a very particular tissue depth. At that exact depth -- at the precise location of the tumor -- the protons release their energy. There's very little radiation damage to the tissue surrounding the tumor. By arranging various proton beams of different energies on a three-dimensional plane, doctors can create a burst of radiation that exactly matches the shape and location of the tumor. Proton therapy is ideal for tumors that are oddly shaped and/or situated in areas that can't handle much radiation exposure. With protons as the energy source, doctors can bombard the tumor with much more energy than they can using X-rays, because they don't have to adhere to the lowest common denominator approach in which the amount of radiation directed at the tumor has to be low enough for the surrounding tissue to survive the treatment. This means proton therapy can destroy a tumor in fewer sessions than are required in X-ray therapy.----Perlong Medical.

Proton Beam Therapy vs. X-ray Beams(1)

The problem with X-rays as an energy source is that they're not easy to control. They have a low mass and a high energy, making it difficult to direct exactly where and how they interact with body tissue. Most body tissue doesn't absorb or block X-rays, so they just keep moving right through the body, releasing energy. When an X-ray(by mobile x ray machine or c arm x ray machine) enters the body, it emits a tremendous amount of energy at the point of entrance. That's why X-ray treatment leaves people with a tan at the treatment site -- their skin is receiving a lot of radiation. As the X-ray continues into the body, it continues to release energy. As long as the cancer tumor is somewhere in the path of the X-ray, it receives some of that radiation. But so does the healthy tissue all around it. The tissue damage that results from this type of radiation therapy can cause serious problems for the patient if the tumor is in a particularly sensitive area like the brain, the eye, the lungs, spinal cord or liver. It can cause irreparable organ damage. And for children, any tissue damage can be detrimental to their development. In order to limit the extent of collateral tissue damage, oncologists will bombard the tumor area with the lowest level of effective radiation.
Proton-beam therapy can avoid this type of collateral damage. Protons are positively charged atomic particles, and they have tremendous energy but also tremendous mass. They're easier to control than X-rays: They slow down as they encounter body tissue. Protons can actually be set to release their energy at a specific point in body.
For details of x ray beam, we will put up it later!

10 Questions to Ask Your Doctor (2)

     6)  What Are You Prescribing Me?      Have the doctor explain to you what the medicine is and what is its function. Are there any side effects associated with it? How long should it be before the medicine starts taking affect? What kind of foods or other medications should be avoided while taking the medicine?

      7) What is Your Board-Certified Specialty?      Just because your doctor has a license to practice medicine does not mean he is qualified to treat your medical condition. Ask your doctor if he is board-certified in the particular specialty of your condition. Only board certification confirms that your doctor has received the appropriate specialized training to treat your condition.

      8) What Are the Possible Complications Associated with this Condition?      For whatever reason, maybe you are resistant to getting treatment for your medical condition. If so, ask your doctor what kind of complications you could be facing should you decide to not go through with any treatment.

      9) What Complications are Associated with the Treatment?      The road to recovery may likely be a bumpy one and it's best to prepare yourself for what you can expect. Knowing what to expect can help you take action to counter any problems. It's also a preventative measure to ensure you don't do anything to reverse or worsen your recovery.

      10) How and When Should I Contact You?      Make sure you ask your doctor what methods of contact are available. Many doctor offices have answering services available for after-hours questions or advice. Find out what constitutes an emergency and what side effects or symptoms would require immediate attention.

Last but not the least, you should know what inspection you need to do if you have a particular symptom. And you should learn to know what the application of a particular medical equipment, such as a hematology analyzer, an electrolyte analyzer, a microplate washer etc.

10 Questions to Ask Your Doctor (1)

Open communication is one of the most important aspects of the doctor-patient relationship. Utilize 10 key questions to ask your doctor to ensure you can get the most individualized treatment you deserve.

      1) How Necessary is This Test?
Sometimes the doctor may ask you to take an x ray image, blood test by hematology analyzer or other test.Make sure you ask your doctor about the purpose of the test and accuracy of the test. Also, ask your doctor the benefits and risks of having the test. Ask if there are any alternatives for finding out the necessary information.

      2) What Is My Diagnosis?
After receiving your diagnosis, make sure you ask your doctor what this medical condition is exactly. You need to know what caused it, if it is contagious, and how it will affect your life and the lives of your loved ones. Also, make sure your doctor outlines any lifestyle changes that you'll need to make from now on.

      3) Are There Any Other Possiblities This Could Be?      Many medical conditions share the same symptoms, and misdiagnosing is something that occurs all too often. Make sure you are forthcoming with all of your symptoms, no matter how embarrassing or insignificant they may seem. Ask your doctor why she thinks it is this certain condition.

      4) What Treatments Are Available?
First, ask your doctor what she recommends for your treatment. If your medical condition is rare, few treatment options may be available. But for more common ailments, multiple treatment options may exist, including alternative treatments that your doctor may be unfamiliar to your doctor. Ask about the success rate of certain treatments, the procedure, the duration, and if there are any risks or side effects you should be aware of first.

      5) How Can I Ensure that the Treatment Goes as Smoothly as Possible?      After you have chosen a treatment plan, make sure to find out what the do's and don'ts are whenyou are in the healing process. There may be certain foods, drugs or activities that need to be avoided, or maybe some that can be of some benefit to you.

American social medical service

As we are a professional manufacturer of mobile x ray machine and other clinical lab device , we recently take attention to developed country's social medical service.
Medical Part B is a new and good measure to provide welfare for people's social medical service in America or other related country. The main item for it is :

Medical and other services.
Medicare Part B pays 80% of most doctor's services, outpatient treatments, and durable medical equipment (like oxygen or wheelchairs). You pay the other 20%. Medicare also pays for 55% of most mental health care costs.

Laboratory and radiology services.
This includes blood tests, X-rays, and other tests.

Outpatient hospital services.
Medicare Part B covers some of these fees. You also have to pay a co-payment. The exact amount varies depending on the service.

Home health care.
Medicare Part B pays for nurses and some therapists to provide occasional or part-time services in your home. As long as the provider is certified by Medicare, you pay nothing -- except for 20% of the charges for some medical equipment, such as wheelchairs and walkers.

Preventive services.
Medicare Part B helps pay for a number of tests, screenings, vaccinations, and a one-time physical exam to help you stay healthy. Some of these services are free; but for most you will pay 20% of the cost.

Medical x ray ----Great Discovery in World Medical

One of medicine's most remarkable achievements is the use of X-rays to see inside the body without having a surgeon wield a scalpel. The suitable medical machine are mobile x ray machine , c arm x ray machine ,digital x ray machine and so on .

X-rays are used for much more than identifying injuries from accidents. They are used to screen for, diagnose, and treat various medical conditions. X-rays can be used on just about any part of the body—from the head down to the toes—to identify health problems ranging from a broken bone to pneumonia, heart disease, intestinal blockages, and kidney stones. And X-rays cannot only find cancerous tumors, but can often destroy them.

Along with their tremendous value, medical X-rays have a drawback: they expose people to radiation. FDA regulates radiation-emitting products including X-ray machines. But everyone has a critical role in reducing radiation while still getting the maximum benefit from X-ray exams.

X-rays are a form of electromagnetic radiation that can penetrate clothing, body tissue, and internal organs. An X-ray machine sends this radiation through the body. Some of the radiation emerges on the other side of the body, where it exposes film or is absorbed by a digital detector to create an image. And some of it is absorbed in body tissues. It is the radiation absorbed by the body that contributes to the "radiation dose" a patient gets.

Nowadays, there are more and more medical manufacturer that they spare no effort to improve mobile x ray machine , and reduce x ray dose on patients as much as they can. So don't worried about the radiation from x ray, it won't do much harm to our body.

Perlong Medical now is produced  x ray machine. We produce x ray machine, mobile x ray machine, digital x ray machine,c arms and so on.

Fluoroscopy in Operating Theatres

Fluoroscopically guided interventional procedures in the operating theatres are increasing in developing countries. As fluoroscopy makes interventions less invasive, there is less patient morbidity and mortality. For some high risk patients, interventional procedures may be the only alternative as routine surgery may carry increased risk for the patient.

Fluoroscopy is now being used by medical personnel spanning a wide range of clinical specialities. Orthopaedic surgeons use fluoroscopy to perform procedures such as joint replacement, vertebroplasty or kyphoplasty, implant localization and other procedures that correct structural deformities of the skeleton.Percutaneous nephrolithotomy(PCNL), stone extraction, nephrostomy and other relevant procedures are performed under fluoroscopic guidance by urologists in operating theatres. Vascular surgeons and anaesthesiologists also use fluoroscopy in operating theatres.

This expanding use of  fluoroscopy machine outside radiology departments, to other areas where proper training may be lacking raises radiation protection concerns. Since radiation doses associated with fluoroscopically guided interventions could be high enough to cause skin injuries, besides increased probability of developing cancer in future years, the participating staff should be particularly informed about the means of radiation protection.

Diagnostic equipment market will expand gradually

Now, global cancer incidence is more and more higher, cancer deaths are more and more. In addition, the average age of the patients with cancer is in the trend of the young and these promote global medical imaging diagnostic equipment market to expand gradually. It is forecasted that medical imaging equipment market will maintain steady growth in next five years. Among of them, the annual average rate of Ultrasonic equipment has achieved 7.2%; The annual average rate of Breast X-ray testing equipment was 6.9%; The annual average rate of MRI equipment was 6.1%; The annual average rate of Computed Tomography System market was 5.4%; The annual average rate of General mobile x ray machine market was 4.7%.
The related experts thought that the market demand of some developed countries have been close to the saturated; Part of the segments of the market growth has achieved smooth from the market demand of global medical imaging diagnostic equipment to see. But in developing countries, especially the emerging economies, such as China, India and Brazil, there is a large of market demand.
Large general hospital of our country purchases medical imaging diagnostic equipment in every year and procurement amount has accounted for 1/20 of hospital annual income; Among of them, medical ultrasound equipment and X-ray equipment are the necessary infrastructure to purchase. Computed Tomography imaging equipments have been the necessary equipment of large hospitals. For small and medium medical institutions, the cost of medical ultraound scanner is smaller in accordance with their purchasing ability. With continuously push of new medical reform, under the support of government, a large rural hospitals and the remote area hospitals will complete the upgrade of ultrasound diagnosis equipment gradually and become the biggest growth momentum of future medical imaging diagnostic equipment market. It is forecasted that market scale will be more than 1 billion dollars in next three years.

What Are the Applications of Hematology?(2)

Aided by clinical laboratory work, hematologists also offer important insights into some non-blood specific conditions as well. For example, these researchers often work together with oncologists to explore the complexities and potential treatments for cancers. The use of bone marrow due to its blood-cell generating capacities also introduces promising research into stem cells. Unmarked stem cells hold the potential for treatments of a wide variety of ailments.
In addition, hematology plays an important role in blood transfusions, or the exchange of blood between two organisms. Several factors must be considered in this process, from determining the health of the donor blood to matching blood types between donors and recipients. All such concerns may be addressed by a hematologist.
Since blood always plays such a significant role in human body, it can also increase knowledge of organs, particularly the heart and the blood vessels. Diseases involving these systems are among the most prevalent and the most fatal in many regions. Recognizing factors like diet and exercise impact the cardiovascular system helps medical professionals, government officials, and society as a whole develop programs and raise awareness to promote a healthy and balanced body.
There are some medical equipments can detect hematology to see if there are some potential diseases, for example, hematology analyzer -- can detect the parameters of the series of red blood cells and hemoglobin, platelet and leukocyte in the blood.

What Are the Applications of Hematology?(1)

Blood is the main area of study in hematology, so hematology research focuses on the substance itself, organs that form blood, diseases involving blood, and blood-forming organs. Most hematology analyzer applications are thus found in the medical field.
Blood is a carrier of a lot of substances throughout the body. In many respects, it is the messenger between not only various parts of the body, but also between the body and the outside world. Blood supplies nutrients and other substances. Scientists may therefore use blood's unique standing to deliver medicines and other substances in a quick and valuable fashion.
Hematologists have uncovered several components that sustain blood. Each of these components can be studied to better understand the human body’s function. For example, platelets, help medical professionals understand the process of clotting and therefore develop aids for this process. White blood cells and red blood cells tell scientists much about the body’s disease-fighting capabilities and its subsequent vulnerabilities to disease.
Due to the complexities of the blood, it is susceptible to a wide range of threats. Through hematology analyzer, researchers can better understand the workings of blood diseases like anemia or leukemia. This understanding comes greater hope for treatments and cures.

What is Chest x-ray in the hospital ?

A chest X-ray is a picture of the chest that shows your heart, lungs, airway, blood vessels, and lymph nodes. A chest X-ray also shows the bones of your spine and chest, including your breastbone, ribs, collarbone, and the upper part of your spine. A chest X-ray is the most common imaging test or X-ray used to find problems inside the chest.
A chest X-ray can help find some problems with the organs and structures inside the chest. Usually two pictures are taken, one from the back of the chest and another from the side. In an emergency when only one X-ray picture is taken, a front view is usually done. Doctors may not always get the information they need from a chest X-ray to find the cause of a problem. If the results from a chest X-ray are not normal or do not give enough information about the chest problem, more specific X-rays or other tests may be done, such as a computed tomography (CT) scan, an ultrasound, an echocardiogram, or an MRI scan.
Then if we are to get chest x ray, we should prepare some knowledge for it . Tell your doctor if you are or might be pregnant. A chest X-ray usually is not done during pregnancy because the radiation could harm the unborn baby (fetus). But the chance of harm to the fetus is very small. If you need a chest X-ray, you will wear a lead apron to help protect your baby.
Talk to your doctor about any concerns you have regarding the need for the test, its risks, how it will be done, or what the results mean. To help you understand the importance of this test, fill out the medical test information form.

How to take chest x-ray

A chest X-ray is taken by a radiology technologist. The pictures are usually read by a radiologist, who writes the report. Other types of doctors, such as a family medicine doctor, internist, or surgeon, also may review chest X-rays.
You will need to take off jewelry that might be in the way of the X-ray picture. You may need to take off all or most of your clothes above the waist (you may be allowed to keep on your underwear if it does not get in the way of the test). You will be given a gown to wear during the test.
Two X-ray views of the chest are usually taken. One view is taken from the back; the other view is taken from the side of the body. But other views may be needed, depending on what your doctor is looking for. In an emergency, only one picture may be taken, usually from the front.
You usually stand with your front against an X-ray plate for the pictures. If you need to sit or lie down, someone will help you get into the correct position.
You will need to hold very still during the X-ray to prevent blurring of the picture. You may be asked to hold your breath for a few seconds while the X-ray picture is taken.
Most hospitals and some clinics have portable X-ray machines. If a chest X-ray is done with a portable X-ray machine at your bedside in a hospital, an X-ray technologist and nurse will help you move into the correct position. Usually only one picture from the front is taken.

The 5 Ds that Make Patients Bad Partners in Healthcare

From the point view of patient's, an important focus of healthcare reform is to directly interact with their healthcare decisions. While this is a laudable goal, there are a number barriers need to be cleared in order to make it viable. Why most patients are not good partners when it comes to healthcare decisions for themselves or loved ones? I believe there are at least five reasons :
      Distress
Patients come to a physician typically only after a disease or process has progressed to the point that it is no longer comfortable for them to ignore it. This distress, by itself, puts the patient at a disadvantage for making judgments and assessing importance.

  Denial
When faced with any significant issue, particularly one affecting health, most patients move relatively quickly through the phases of grief, from shock to denial. Feelings like, “it's not that bad,” or, “that doctor doesn't know what he's talking about,” are common. Denying the disease itself or the cause of the disease frequently leads to treating symptoms and not the illness.
  Dollar
When presented with different options for therapy or diagnosis, cost is frequently never discussed. When it is, the more subjective idea of the "value" of each alternative is more difficult to convey. This is because physicians and other providers have spent years in school trying to get a handle on just that question.
  Data
Patients, armed with the latest Google search present themselves to their provider with a complaint list and everything they "know" about their illness. Physicians can have difficulty sorting through what is true or reasonably true versus the latest ad, wrapped up as real information.
  Dose
From the radiology standpoint, patients are being told that their diagnostic examination will lead to cancer — at least that's what many remember from the latest media blast. In ALARA terms, sometimes the highest dosage radiology examination( taken by a mobile x ray machine, c arm, digital x ray machine, etc), is the one has the biggest value. The exam with the least value and lowest cost offen has the lowest dose and sometimes it's a mixture of highest cost — lowest value or lowest cost moderate value.

The maintenance of the biochemistry analyzer

There are many kinds of the biochemistry analyzer. The can be classified into two groups,semi-automatic biochemistry analyzer and automatic biochemistry analyzer.
And about the maintenance of the two kinds of the biochemistry analyzers are the same.
When the biochemistry analyzer is in the course of using normally, it only needs the normal clean and maintenance, but the follow components with long time work may be invalid or fault, at this moment you should mend it to the appointed maintenance point or under the professional technician guiding.

Now,let see some parts of the biochemistry analyzer .
      Filter
Through a period of using time, the transmissivity of filter will reduce. It reduces until instrument cannot normal work, instrument will prompts automatically, at this moment in order to guarantee the accuracy of detecting, you should invite professional technician to replace the invalid filter.
      Lamp-house light
When lamp-house light is defective (not light), instrument will prompt automatically, and at this moment you open the above cover to check-up. If confirming the light defective, you should replace it by the same type of light, and if power supply fault, you repair it.
      Pumpline
Through a period of using time, because of extrusion, the pumpline may be distortion to influence of the aspiration volume. Before detecting, you should check-up whether pumpline is distortion, and if it is, please replace it.
      Fuse
After fuse burnt out, you must cut off power supply firstly, and then replace fuse by the same type, or you do the above operation under professional technician guiding.
If the maintenance of the biochemistry analyzer is very good, then you will use the biochemistry analyzers for a long time.

To be an X-Ray Technician ! Or not ?

The x- ray technicians is that person who is qualified, trained and a strength employee who is expert in scientific exploitation of X-ray tools and may be able to take pictures of the body’s interior bones, organs and etc. So after considered by the doctor’s problem can detect the state of the ailment and start the further action.
X-Ray investigation is firstly pedestal in the branch of farming and enchanting into explanation the degree of numerous X-ray technicians for the further training taking more than two years previous to the actual startup the work in numerous places such as, in the government or private hospitals, radiology workshops, physicians, dental clinics, etc.
For the training of x- ray technicians there are so many institute such as trade schools, wherever learners study the course and found essentials information about the process of permanent and manageable X-ray arrangement of the patients before the actual X-ray ray is focuses on him as it is for a small epoch in the precious region and the picture is uncovered to the photo-sensitive shield reserved in a small package from side to side which solitary X-rays can overtake. The expansion and advantage of photosensitive plate bare the actual pointed picture exposes behind the expansion progresses.
Several students also study extra education connected actions in esteem to radiology in analytic submissions of ultrasound method and magnetic reverberation imaging, computer-aided tomography examination.
The career of a radiologist wants outstanding community relationships and most important proficient exercise because the expansion of community relationships is accommodating the whole course. The patients that exaggerated by the extended anguish awkward approach to assume, as they are drained of being incapable to stand the belongings of damage because the incomplete association incapacity to knowledge or to alter the location as deceitful losing, without assist as of everyone.
These buoyant x- ray technicians can pass a smirk in the features and search for the assistance necessary of them in the prolongation of suitable cure and get back a superior revival.

Digital x ray machines used in hospitals

The quality and information of digital x-ray images can rivals the traditional x-ray imaging. Image processing system can adjust the contrast to get the best visual effects; the rang of imaging is more larger; patients receive less medical x ray radiation; and image information can be stored in disk or CD-ROM, and transmitted. Those are the advantages of digital images.
Digital image technique now wildly applies in digital radiography. Digital images and traditional X-ray images are taken by the overlapping part of the overall image, therefore, digital radiography can image the parts which traditional x-ray can film, and observation and analysis of DR images are same as conventional x-ray. The difference is that DR image is composed of a certain number of pixels. Digital images are better than traditional x-ray for diagnosing bone structure, cartilage and soft tissue, and it also can analyze the salt content of mineral in quantitative analysis.
Digital image is easy to show mediastinal structures such as blood vessels and trachea, and the detection of nodules is higher than conventional X-ray imaging, but not better than the traditional x-ray to show the pulmonary interstitial and alveolar disease. Using digital image to do tomography is better than traditional x-ray, and On showing the minimal change disease and intestinal mucosa folds in double contrast radiography, the digital image is better than traditional X-ray imaging.
Digital radiography is a new imaging technique. It superior to the traditional X-ray imaging in many respects, but to the benefits and price, it is difficult to replace the conventional X-ray imaging. In clinical applications, digital radiography is not like CT and MRI that can not be replaced.

The innovative features of these devices shorten the turnaround time, reduce operational errors and provide real-time QC information.

How to select the ideal hematology analyzer

Looking for the best instrument to suit your needs? You'll save time and money by consulting the treasury of advice offered here.
This article is not intended to evaluate specific hematology analyzers or to recommend one piece of equipment over another. Rather, it is intended to provide laboratory managers with guidance on selecting an instrument that will best suit their needs.
Assessment tool, we knew from the start that our search for an outstanding hematology analyzer would be a real challenge. Every representative offered three-part differentials, closed vial sampling, and at least 22 parameters with histograms. They all asserted that their analyzer was the best on the market. Each claimed to have won out consistently over major competitors in side-by-side comparison tests.
To help judge the individual qualities of each instrument, we developed a comprehensive questionnaire, which we gave to any vendor vying for our business. Each salesperson was asked to complete the survey and return it to us when that manufacturer's instrument was brought into the laboratory for a trial period.
This document served several purposes. First, it helped eliminate vendors who were clearly unable to meet our needs. Second, certain responses triggered more questions to ask during the evaluation process, Finally, the survey provided important documentation to which we could refer when making our final decision
